Lamu County Women and Girls Training on the use of Technology for Livelihoods and Social Inclusion.

As a wider goal for STEM (Science Technology Engineering & Math) careers, the access of women and girls to ICT and the Internet is widely regarded as critical to the national economy. The School of Information and Communication Technology, PIU made a deliberate and systematic effort to broaden the participation of girls and women in STEM careers through concerted efforts that encourage and inspire girls and women to pursue ICT and Financial related Course Programmes.  Increasing opportunities for women in these fields is an important step towards realizing greater economic success and equality for women across Kenya and the region.

This training as was on the use of technology, basic business skills and the government of Kenya opportunities for women and girls. Integrated with Dell’s vmware® Microsoft® IT Academy – MITA, The School of Information and Communication Technology has quickly set itself apart as a school of excellence in ICT.

Pioneer International University Signs an MOU with VMWare

On Thursday, 15th of August 2019, Pioneer International University and VMware signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

This MOU was signed by Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Gideon Maina J.K. (Ph.D.) and VMware Senior Director, Strategic Programs & Global Delivery, Thomas MacKay.

The two organizations declared that this was a mutual commitment that would lead to cooperation within the scope of their mandates and sphere of competences, putting technology and expertise to work towards transforming lives, impacting societies and the world. This collaboration will involve training of trainers who will thereafter transfer knowledge to Information Technology students who will be certified thereby gaining valuable experience through certification courses, hands-on labs, e-text references, discounted study material, free software, and more.

Pioneer International University, whose vision is to be a world-class market-driven university of excellence for the good of society attaches great importance to this collaboration with VMware, which is a subsidiary of Dell, gaining yet another major partner in the effort to  help educators teach in innovative ways in addition to helping institutions reduce cost through the virtualization product that makes it possible to partition a single physical server into multiple virtual machines.
